National Houseplant Appreciation Day - Jan 10, 2023

HousplantsDid you know that it's National Houseplant Appreciation Day?  It is ... and it's a good time to remind ourselves of the benefits of sharing work and home spaces with live plants.

A variety of house plants can provide an opportunity to brighten up your house or office, particularly if you've already packed away the Christmas decor for the year.  Houseplants absorb carbon dioxide converting it into oxygen after filtering pollutants, acting as nature's air purifier.  Plants also release some moisture into the air providing some humidity to normally dry winter conditions.  And why not introduce some potted herbs that can be used to spice up your everyday meal preparations?

People also have an "innate instinct" to connect with nature.  Indoor plants can fill the void, particularly in the northern winter climates.  There is also research that indicates caring for plants can reduce stress and anxiety.

To help you decorate with plants, we found a list from Good Housekeeping, where they identified the Top 10 Plants for Health:

  1. HouseplantsSpider Plant
  2. Peace Lily
  3. Rubber Plants
  4. Elephant Ear Plants
  5. Snake Plants
  6. Ferns
  7. Pothos
  8. English Ivy
  9. Succulents & Cacti
  10. Herbs
